We would like to welcome everyone to Temple Israel of Hollywood's 8th Grade Blog Mitzvah. This
year, the 8th
Graders in TIOH's Teen Program will be exploring the 613 mitzvot.
Each week they will learn about a mitzvah
and carefully analyze the commandment as it is written in the Torah.
We will also look at how
our Jewish tradition has interpreted these commandments and how the Reform
Movement is still making these mitzvot
make sense in today's world.
We are also excited to introduce the
concept of a “blog mitzvah”
– an online journal through which our 8th
Graders, their teacher, and our Youth Director will be posting
entries, photos, videos, etc. in order to document how we are
“observing” the mitzvah
for the week. Sometimes, the mitzvah will be easier to observe. However, our Torah contains some pretty interesting commandments that will challenge all of us to use our creativity in observing the mitzvah as best we can.
